Could you host unsafe mark-up in a new document with an iframe and use the sandbox attribute? https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/doc ... ent/iframe - seems like omitting allow-same-origin and allow-top-navigation might do what you need?
This seems like a prime candidate for a plugin to me, if it were made possible (or is already possible) - a plugin that enables iframes/embeds/objects/other 'unsafe' tags on a configurable whitelist of domains/all domains.
I had the same issue - you should check your server logs, as the error will likely be output there. For me, the error was that I didn't have php-mbstring installed, which is a requirement.
What's provided in the FAQ isn't exactly what was asked for here - that link will immediately subscribe to whatever link you feed it, rather than let you pick a category or cancel - it'd be neat to be able to, optionally, bring up a dialog.
I could spend some time doing this, though not a huge amount and I'll be travelling for the next week - also, I'm quite a new user/forum member, so might not be the best candidate

It'd be great if when you long-press on an image, you have the option of viewing image alt/title text if it has it. This would be great for web-comics, which tend to include an extra sub-title in the image title (xkcd, dinosaur comics, gunshow, etc.)
