Re: Android app ideas (with partial implementations)

Where have I argued to take away any feature? If you don't want to mark items as unread, and have your feeds ordered by newest first (who doesn't like reading first that something happened and then read an announcment about it), then how is any of the stuff I proposed going to change that? Or is you...

Re: Android app ideas (with partial implementations)

Edit: also, with your approach, suppose you marked some articles as unread, then closed the reader, then reopened your unread feed, but you are still not in the mood to read that 2000 word post. What do you do? Mark it as unread again? From the article list, I just start reading with the next artic...

You didn't provide any hard facts yet, so don't argue with the implied but unproven.

But apparently better UX is not an argument you're particularily inclined towards.

Re: Android app ideas (with partial implementations)

By the way, because the Google refugee argument came up, I've seen the evolution of a pay-for app (which, yes, incidentally connected to Google Reader), where most of these things had been implemented over time. Not because anything Google (Reader) did. Not even because I in my wicked way to use fee...

The extra effort consists of reading two streams of articles instead of one. If there was a way to display unread and starred articles together, that would also be ok.

Re: Android app ideas (with partial implementations)

When you read it, it is read. As such, it should be marked as read. Wrong. When I swipe left and the article appears, it is marked as read. I have not read it yet. I have not even seen it before that moment. When I see that I just came onto a 2000 word post by someone, I usually wait until I have s...

Re: Android app ideas (with partial implementations)

>I just find it outright annoying to open up Firefox to read an article. The UX is terrible, tons of animations going on, I have to press the back button to return to the TT-RSS app. So you want to implement a browser in an RSS browser app because the browser you are using is shitty and you hate an...

Re: Android app ideas (with partial implementations)

You never found the view options or the starred virtual feed? Okay. What do I have to do to display unread+starred items in a single list ? Also, how do I automatically unstar a starred item when I have read it? Also, why am I using "mark as unread" wrong if I want to mark articles as &qu...

Re: Android app ideas (with partial implementations)

>Would it be sensible to change the LayoutAlgorithm to LayoutAlgorithm.NARROW_COLUMNS? I have no idea, this might need some looking into. RSS summaries are usually blurbs with simple layout, it makes sense to optimize for it, thus single column. Well, for simple blurbs this doesn't change anything....

Android app ideas (with partial implementations)

Hi, copying my post from the G+ community for extended discussion: I've played around with the Android Client a bit, here are some thoughts: - Would it be sensible to change the LayoutAlgorithm to LayoutAlgorithm.NARROW_COLUMNS? I find the current (SINGLE_COLUMN) breaks too many feeds, and while the...
