Re: php 7.1, FEED_CRYPT_KEY, and you

One thing I've noticed is that Chrome really likes to fill in the feed username/password feeds with auto-completed values it's saved from the ttrss login page when I open the feed editor. Something to watch for anyways, that explained a bunch of unexpected passwords showing up there for me.

Re: about Headline display mode,Swipe and Volume Key

What about using the "favicon" as the image? That would provide a little actual information.

Re: A pray for the return of the read/unread button (Android

That puts it in a different feed (starred). The other catch there is that starred articles don't automatically get unstarred when you then go back to read them when you have time - and you can only really expect that behavior on the read/unread status. Marking unread really is like saying "und...

Re: A pray for the return of the read/unread button (Android

I'll try explaining my logic on read/unread and starred. Unread means I haven't taken the time to read something yet. Read means I've finished it, and done anything and everything I plan to do with it. That may mean publishing it, or starring it. To me, starring means "I read this, found it int...

Re: [Android Client] Compact headline mode

The first letter does seem artificial... On gmail, it's the first letter of the sender. Maybe it should be the first letter of the name of the feed instead? Better yet, gmail will use a profile icon instead of a letter if it knows which one to use. Maybe this would be a good place for the feed icon ...

Re: Blank page after ubuntu update

Well that was quick. Some googling pointed at the following change to my nginx config: - include fastcgi_params; + include fastcgi.conf; The only difference between those files appears to be: +fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name; I'm far enough away from php that I don't...

Blank page after ubuntu update

Looking for any pointers or suggestions. Running TTRSS 1.13 on a VPS (linode), and it's been running just fine. nginx for web server, postgres for db. Ran an ubuntu update, including the packages below (*). Now I'm getting a blank page when trying to open ttrss. Nginx doesn't report an error, just a...

Re: Change android client fonts

Huh. I like it (the new font) a lot. That font shows up many places in newer Android versions, so it's more consistent with the future :) Also, it's just nice to get more headline next in that limited space, and that narrow font is great for it. I'd chalk this up to people being scared of change per...

Re: Android Client: Text-to-Speech support

Perhaps a more fruitful route would be to focus on a plugin, or even an independent product, that takes a given RSS feed and produces a podcast from it. Then the TTRSS/Android work is basically "make podcasts work nicely", which would benefit your use case *and* regular podcast users.

Re: Android client: beta testing

Is it just me, or is the swipe-to-browse-articles behavior a lot better? Before switching to the beta, I'd regularly have a problem (which I was meaning to report) where just starting to swipe an article to one side or another made it very difficult to "abort", and just not switch. On the ...

Re: Chrome RSS Subscription Extension

Here's the way I'm hitting this problem, both in Chrome and Firefox. Note, you'll want to have xsel and hexdump installed to easily look at what's in your clipboard: 1) Open http://tt-rss.org/redmine/projects/tt-rss/wiki/FrequentlyAskedQuestions 2) On the line with the subscription URL, double-click...

Re: Chrome RSS Subscription Extension

I just hit this again after a new Chrome setup, and figured out a bit more. When you copy and paste the URL from the TTRSS FAQ page, if you're not really careful, you get some extra unicode whitespace characters: 00000000 49 20 6e 65 65 64 20 61 20 55 52 4c 20 49 20 63 |I need a URL I c| 00000010 61...

Re: Can I use git to update if I didn't use git to install?

"You can't clone into an existing directory." Can't is a strong word :) IIRC what I did when I was in the same situation was to do a git init in my existing directory, run a 'git remote add <appropriate parameters>' to add the the github repository, and then a 'git reset --soft origin/remo...

Re: Preview length

Having arbitrary hard-coded constants sprinkled through the code base isn't exactly clean either. If they have to live somewhere, a "config" file of some kind isn't all that bad idea.
