Re: Mirroring tt-rss installation

I'd go read up on MySQL's replication features. Then setup a replication of your master MySQL database to the remote machine.

Re: Spiegel RSS feed no longer working

Most likely they fixed it. I have a science feed that occasionally shows up as invalid because of spurious characters in the feed. They go away after a couple days. Or the brain-dead webmaster who put links to the RSS-feed that pointed to itself for Cringley's site. Eventually, emailing them that it...

Re: Individual user templates

I don't understand this. If you have two separate tt-rss users, user1 and user2 and you create separate templates user1-template.txt and user2-template.txt in the templates directory, how is that not working? Why do you want a subdirectory in the templates directory? From what I can see, the templat...

Re: Can I disable the preview bubble?

I looked into this further. The popups aren't in just Safari. They're a MacOS UI called a tooltip. And the Op isn't the first to find them annoying. You have to do some command-line mung to disable them in Safari (for all web sites, not just ttrss): https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2644378?tstar...

Re: Can I disable the preview bubble?

MacOS calls them Menu Hints. Safari implements them, I think, as part of the alt="string" tag in a <a></a>. Chrome does not.

Re: Can I disable the preview bubble?

Use Chrome instead of Safari. It doesn't do these popups when you mouseover an entry. That's a "feature" of Safari that you can't disable sort of changing the way the code is generated.

For a single user, do you think Fox would go for that?

Re: Feed timing out

Yep. Since you can get to the feed with curl on the command line, it's probably not your IP address. And a 30min updates isn't to bad. The only other thing that comes to mind is how many feeds to do you have? I don't know if tt-rss polls multiple streams at once and this stream has just enough delay...

Re: Feed timing out

I used curl -v on the command line from my system and I got the feed just fine. How often are you polling the feed? Have you tried accessing the feed via curl from another IP address, like from the shell of your ISP? I'm wondering if your IP address got banned by the site. Or maybe the Internet thin...

Re: Error Message: system() has been disabled...

It's most likely the system() function call has been disabled on your implementation of php. That's most likely a security feature that your site or sysadmin has implemented to prevent people like you from doing damage to their system. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1865020/php-how-to-disable-da...

Re: Headers and client library minor version mismatch

Your MySQL install is TFU (totally f-ed up). Try downloading the latest version and installing it. That will put fresh headers where they belong and ensure you're running the most current version. Then migrate the database from the old version to the new.

Re: [1.10] "Feeds" in preferences not available

OK, do you see feeds in the preferences menu?

If not, have you tried importing feeds from whatever source or just putting them in one at a time?

The preferences menu shows a "sheet" under the Feeds (look at the bottom of the screen) for OPML. Click on that.

Re: [1.10] "Channels" not available

I went to the preferences setting on my instance of tt-rss and didn't find any "channels". What are you talking about?

When you look at the MySQL database tables, what in the feeds tables? Can you see data in other tables outside of the user profile? Maybe the opml import failed.

Re: what are the additional features for a "power user"

For me, the 'power user' does their research by looking through the code and this site *first* before asking questions. I'm thinking of one post recently that illustrates this perfectly. The poster was attempting to write a plug-in to process a feed and change an article. He did some research on how...
