Tried to quickly add some error catching, it should now output 'error' in the response which might be related.

Sorry, don't have any good suggestions, or the time to look at it at the moment. Port 443 is open for outgoing traffic?

Maybe a problem with your server configuration, such as PHP option allow_url_fopen.

Could you check the error console in your browser? There should be a response like this:

First version of my Instapaper plugin, using the free Instapaper API. Works asynchronously without opening up a new window.
