App is running fine on Android 7.1.1 on Nexus 5x.

There where some changes in default ciphers with the move to 7.0, see here for details:

How does pushing (i.e.: translation updates) work now?

if i try to register to tt-rss.org/gitlab, it keeps telling me:

"1 error prohibited this user from being saved:
Projects limit must be greater than or equal to 0"

and fails

Have you tried using a wrapper, as described here on the forums ? I am on a shared hosting and with this I can update without any problem. You can then use some sort of "scheduled task service", either provided by your hosting or through something like SetCronJob , pointing it at your wrap...
