Don't catchup new feed or manually updated feed

When a new feed is added, the "update_rss_feed_real()" function calls the "catchup_feed()" function, such that the newly added feed appears to have no unread articles. I don't understand the reason for this. Since I haven't read those 20 or 30 initial articles, I want to see them...

Re: Magpie overcaching problem

I discovered my magpie feed parsing problem was of my own creation. I was attempting to filter some bad characters from the feed content, and that apparently screwed up several of my feeds.

However, the above patch for manual update is still valid.

Re: Magpie overcaching problem

I think I was wrong about the source of the problem I was observing. It was not an "overcaching" problem. Instead a feed was being incorrectly parsed into nothingness, and hence it seemed to be not updated. I think it was a coincidence that the particular feed I used for testing was the pr...

Re: Magpie overcaching problem

There is tt-rss code dealing with magpie caching. See include/rssfuncs.php approx line 351: } else if ($update_method == 1) { define('MAGPIE_CACHE_AGE', get_feed_update_interval($link, $feed) * 60); define('MAGPIE_CACHE_ON', !$no_cache); define('MAGPIE_FETCH_TIME_OUT', 60); define('MAGPIE_CACHE_DIR'...

Magpie overcaching problem

While testing the recent "Manual Update" problems, I set one of my feeds to a "weekly" update. It was updated afterwards as expected. But now I've switched the update interval back to "default", which is 30 minutes. And I've noticed that I'm not getting any updates on t...

Re: reply.headlines is undefined

Reverting the 787e5ebc2101e3a207a6f4e7deffcc0a07b9e28d changeset makes single user mode work again, on the git HEAD.
There were only two lines added in that patch. It was the "csrf_token" line that caused the problem.
Why?

Re: reply.headlines is undefined

I can verify: Single user mode seems to be broken. I changed SINGLE_USER_MODE from false to true and started getting that same exception. I did not test the other config differences.

As a temporary workaround, set SINGLE_USER_MODE to false and login as "admin".

Re: set font size/spacing in feed list

Your post inspired me to install the older version just to see what it used to look like. Here's a bit of custom CSS that will lessen the distance between the feeds in the list, to compact it a bit: .claro .dijitTreeRow, .claro .dijitTreeRowSelected, .claro .dijitTreeRowHover, .claro .dijitTreeRowAc...

Re: Manual update doesn't work when feed has disabled update

Here's a patch that sets last_updated to NULL and removes the blockage in the update routine.

Seems to work, but is barely tested.

Re: Manual update doesn't work when feed has disabled update

I think the relevant code is in include/rssfuncs.php , in the function update_daemon_common() . The SQL query part "$update_limit_qpart" requires ttrss_feeds.update_interval to be greater than or equal to zero. (Update 2: or if last_updated is NULL) But since the "update_interval"...

Re: Gettext problem after installing on hosting

The lib/ directory should have quite a few more files. Are you using an old version? Or did something interfere with the copy? The git repository has these under the lib/ directory. accept-to-gettext.php button/ CheckBoxTree.js dijit/ dojo/ dojo-src/ gettext/ htmlpurifier/ iui/ jsmin.php magpierss/ ...

Feed icon recognition - experimental

Attached is a patch that I've been using for over a month. It checks the feed icon image content, instead of using the Mime Content-Type header, using simple pattern matching derived from the "file(1)" program. I know there are image recognition functions provide by PHP, but I wrote this b...
