Re: Any backing up tips are welcome

I put this in /usr/local/sbin/dbbackup and run it from cron. #!/bin/bash datestamp=$(date +%Y%m%d) retention=${1:-14} umask 0077 /usr/bin/pg_dump -U ttrss -C ttrssdb | /bin/gzip -c > /sysmgmt/databases/ttrssdb_${datestamp}.sql.gz /usr/bin/find /sysmgmt/databases -type f -name ttrssdb_\*.sql.gz -mtim...

Re: update_daemon2.php request

I run the daemon under upstart on Ubuntu 12.04: # tt-rss - Tiny Tiny RSS # # This job runs the feed updater for Tiny Tiny RSS. This is not the main # application itself, this is merely the feed update daemon. description "Tiny Tiny RSS feed updater" author "AngryChris" start on r...

Re: ATT: Fox

The FAQ even has this gem: Fox, why are you so hostile / terrible to users It's nothing personal. Primarily it is a time management problem. Tiny Tiny RSS is a long running (started in 2005) hobby project of mine. I work on it at my spare time, which is of limited quantity. I share my work with othe...

Re: floIcon License

I just read the guy's "license" and, man, this guy is a total douchebag. It's not even a license. It's a bunch of haranguing and then a threat to sue. The "license" doesn't even actually grant permission to use the software , at all. Yes, that's right. By a strict reading of the ...

Re: MySQL Caching

Disk I/O on an INSERT (or UPDATE) is something you want. That's what ensures new data remains available in the event of a database or server failure. It's I/O on a SELECT that you want to avoid. If you're experiencing high I/O during feed update cycles, that's normal and you really shouldn't be tryi...

Re: HTTPS Howto?

Based on the description of your problem I have question. Do you have https:// correctly configured in your config.php under: define('SELF_URL_PATH', 'http://yourserver/tt-rss/'); // Full URL of your tt-rss installation. This should be set to the // location of tt-rss directory, e.g. http://yourserv...

Re: OTP image is broken (1.7.8)

I honestly can't think of anything off the top of my head. I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 and when I noticed the same issue (via errors in my logs) simply installing php5-gd and bouncing apache2 solved it. I can't imagine there's much difference between the Debian and Ubuntu packages (as Ubuntu's value-add is ...

Re: OTP image is broken (1.7.8)

If you're on a Debian based distribution (Debian, Ubuntu, etc) then install the php5-gd package. I believe on Red Hat distributions (Fedora, RHEL, CentOS, etc) it's just called php-gd (without the 5). If you're on something else, I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader. ;)

Re: Anacron issue for update !

Run this script once an hour from anacron: #!/bin/sh for i in 1 2 3 ; do update.php --feeds sleep 900 done Edit as appropriate for your hosting provider (e.g.; /bin/bash) and the path to the update script (e.g.; /var/www/tt-rss/update.php) . It will run at the top of the hour and sleep for 15 minute...

Re: Technorati links?

Is it in the actual XML? Af_unburn plugin doesn't modify article content in any way, only resolves actual article URL. I'm sorry, fox, I honestly don't know how to check that. I mentioned the af_unburn plugin because all of these URLs point there and I wasn't sure if there might be an issue with th...

Technorati links?

I've come across an issue where one of my feeds displays 17 apparently bogus links at the bottom of every article. They're all "* Technorati link" links and appear to be garbage. I have the af_feedburner plugin enabled. Here's where they lead: http://technorati.com/search/?return=posts&...

Deleting a user account

I'd like to gain an understanding of what happens when a user account is deleted. I have some friends that are using my personal installation of tt-rss to evaluate it for themselves. Once they've decided to create their own instance on their own systems, I'd like to be able to delete their accounts ...

Re: Android app ideas (with partial implementations)

Nah, all of it could easily be added, just like many other terrible ideas the google reader escapee populace is generating here. I'm a Google Reader escapee and I think the TT-RSS android app is just fine. But then I understand how "read/unread" has worked in just about every computer pro...

Re: Article Time ahead 1 Hour

It sounds like your timezone is "wrong" insomuch as it sounds like articles are being displayed in Eastern Standard Time when you're now in Eastern Daylight time (with EST being one hour ahead of EDT). The switch this year was on March 10th which is "about a month ago" (today bei...
