fox, in fact, it's a lot more magical to get free service from Google or Microsoft than to pay someone you can actually phone for it.

In fact, half the problem with the internet today is that people actually believe they are living in a world of magic and clouds and free.

(I read someone saying how childish and misleading the metaphor of "the cloud" is for tons of metal in server farms that need industrial cooling to work without melting.)

It's very easy to figure out people who never had the pleasure of running mail relays in this thread. ;)

lol @ the idea of people paying for email in 2013.

fox, funny thing is that attitude you endorse (why should I pay for email in 2013?) seems to me the same attitude that drives people here ranting about OH WHY THIS SHIT IS NOT MORE LIKE GOOGLE READER and MAKE IT WORK IN ANY CRAPPY HOSTING IN THE WORLD YOU MORON. :)

I have never run a mail server. I have never run any server, period. I pay someone to run them and I do stuff that may be a little advanced for common folks (installing tt-rss...) but is not technical or expert level stuff at all. If they are so incompetent that get their server be hijacked by spammers, I stop paying and get someone else. If I am so incompetent that I let my computer be infected by spam-sending bots, I learn to prevent it. My life is sweeeeeet.

PS: derailing is fun.

I too like paying people to validate my sense of smug superiority. I prefer hookers though, at least some fun is involved there too.

"TT-RSS <--> TB sync was deemed stupid and ignorant because"

It is a TB dev project not TT-RSS.
It is not a trivial task.

The worth of it is empirical.
My bet though is that you could not find 100 people willing to pay $10 for the plugin which is an order of magnitude less money then I think the coding effort is worth.

well, then, as has been reported, go get someone on the tbird development team to write something so you can talk to other rss readers, like ttrss. best of luck, report back with your successes in case there's anybody else out there that wants to try it.

Lore27, how much are you willing to pay to have your old shit migrated?

I already know the answer, not enough.

I have switched from thinking your ignorant to thinking you are a stupid fuck.

Get cancer.

Hey, fox, aspie here. I don't know what's wrong with all these anti-gmail people, but it isn't Aspergers. I use gmail and keep scratching my head trying to figure out where these people are coming from. I think it's a bad case of self-important-stick-up-butt syndrome--you can call 'em sipsubs for short. Don't give us aspies a bad name by associating them with us. Thanks. :)

At least I learned something from this thread. I had to go look up IDN. I'm wondering how useful that actually is since most people know how to use ASCII on their keyboard but few people know how to use Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, and all the other non-Latin languages. They might know one or two, but few know enough to cover the world. ASCII is more universal. (Maybe I'm showing my aspie-ness with that mono-track, consistency thinking. :) )
