Depends on your usage. I'm the only user on my instance of tt-rss and my feeds aren't high traffic. So 1 hour update intervals is just fine. A couple sites are really only updated weekly, so I set that frequency in tt-rss's feed properties. Low impact on all my feedburner sites so they seem OK with me.

YMMV.

A 'cocktail' of Viagra and Crack, maybe? I heard that crack ain't so good for pounding, so that metaphor doesn't quite hold up.

If they see connections from a the same IP address every 30 minutes going down their list of feeds, they might think it was a bot or someone scanning them. When Google was doing it, that was different. I'm sure the FeedBurner admin could call up the Google Reader admin and complain about "hammering our servers like a sailor on leave" and get them to change the updates. Maybe even setup a round-robin poll. AFAIK, Google Reader didn't let you set any sort of update interval--you just logged in and read your stuff. Now that's split into traffic from all the old Reader users.

With nntp, you used to had to send a courtesy email to the Stratum 2 public nntp server so that your IP didn't get banned. Nowadays, some high-end routers have nntpd built in. Add a radio to NIST and you can sync your whole enterprise without the Internet.

Someone should reach out to Feedburner and find out if they have some sort of traffic policy about "X number of feeds over Y minutes" will get you banned for 1 week.
