Migrate TinyTinyRSS from a server to another one

Postby benbois » 19 Feb 2014, 17:56

Hi here,

I tried to migrate a working TTRss from a Debian server to another Debian server (different PHP/Mysql version and other physical location).
The TTRss is multi-users.
To manage this, I started to copy all files to the new location and I dumped the DB from the old mysql to the new one.
After changing the database infos in config.php file, I was able to get the login page of TTRss.

But, I can't login with my user/password and stock on the login page.

Of course, the best solution would be to install a fresh TTRss but in this case I would lose the users data.

Any help/idea will be apreciate!
Cheers

I never used it but maybe you could use Installatron to do a backup of your current install and then a new install using this backup

http://installatron.com/apps#cmd=browser&display=tinytinyrss

Import Tiny Tiny RSS
Welcome to the Installatron import wizard! This wizard will guide you through the import of an externally installed instance of Tiny Tiny RSS.
The import process brings an externally installed instance of an application into the Installatron system. Successfully imported applications can be used and upgraded from the "My Applications" tab.

I'd think you should be able to just shut down the db from the old side, copy all the db files over, and start up mysql on the new side, doing whatever upgrade maintenance is normal for whatever version change your doing.

Just to be on the safe side... how did you dump the DB from the old mysql to the new one?

You don't need "installatron" or any other bullshit. Dump your database, scp the files, check so that the new server has the necessary libraries and stuff, and restore the database. It will just work.

I dump the db like that:

in old server: mysqldump -u root -pPSWD tinyrss > tinyrss_dump.sql
scp the dump to the new server and in the new:
mysql -uroot -p
mysql> use tinyrss
mysql> source tinyrss_dump.sql

For the code, scp all files to the new server.
worked nice with other sutff like wiki but not with tinyrss!!

I'm just thinking aloud but... could it be your new PHP installation lacks some encryption libraries? You know, passwords aren't stored in cleartext in the database. And... do you have anything in the logs?

a good idea.. just checked on the both server.
Except the diff of the version 5.3.3 vs 5.4.4, I got the same PHP5 extensions installed (specially php5-mcrypt).
Nothing in the log :(

I did it today, when i tried to connect to the migrated version, i have seen a tt-rss db password error. Not the tt-rss users.
To solve this, i have deleted the tt-rss admin db and created it again whith grant all privileges to tt-rss db.

The admin tt-rss db mean the account in config.php.

If you have an error MSG post it ?

I'm not an english as you can see

What about clicking "I forgot my password", assuming you provided the user account with a valid email address?
