feed tab "Sorry, an error occurred"

Postby thermionic » 21 Feb 2015, 17:23

running v1.15.3.4ca621a on a dedicated Ubuntu 14.04 instance

everything seems to be working fine, untill I go into preferences | feeds when it goes (eventually) from "Loading...", to "Sorry, an error occurred"

preferences | system | error log is empty

where should I start looking ?

"Unable to load backend.php?op=pref-feeds status: 504"

nginx error log shows

2015/02/21 15:58:21 [error] 1032#0: *33 upstream timed out (110: Connection timed out) while reading response header from upstream, client: 192.168.53.165, server: tt-rss, request: "GET /backend.php?op=pref-feeds HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://127.0.0.1:9000", host: "f.q.d.n", referrer: "http://f.q.d.n/prefs.php"

everything else seems to be working, I'm lost as to where to look next.

I seem to have a vague recollection of a prior thread similar to this but I'm ony phone and can't find it. If I recall, if you have a LOT of feeds this page times out because the query takes long. I think fox implemented a constant to toggle what's queried to help this; maybe someone can help more as looking through code on an iPhone is kind of painful.

classes/prefs/feeds.php line 1264: There's an constant to disable inactive feeds.

Maybe that will help?

I "cheated" and gave the VM 2GB instead of 512MB, the feeds now load

I'd the same problem this morning. My ttrss_entries table has more than 250K rows and I guess it was the reason.

I commented out the block in "classes/prefs/feeds.php line 1264" and the error disappeared. Also, the Preferences section loads lightning fast now.
