update.php doesn't want to update

Postby module0x90 » 07 Apr 2016, 15:46

Hi,

I have a bit of a strange problem with latest and greatest TTRSS, it doesn't want to update anymore.

I have done what viewtopic.php?t=2617 suggests,
/usr/bin/php update.php --force-update
/usr/bin/php update.php --feeds
and I can see they are all reset to 1970-01-01, when I run it again later I see the current date, but no new articles turn up - and that's now for more than 24 hours.
Adding new feeds are fine and they are updated ok.

I suspect this might have to do with that I set my server by mistake ~114000 s into the future, and I have reset it then already back to the real time. It seems
the problem started then.
I am running the update.php as a daemon, its output is

[12:24:08/6909] Lock: update.lock
[12:24:08/6909] Scheduled 0 feeds to update...
[12:24:08/6909] Sending digests, batch of max 15 users, headline limit = 1000
[12:24:08/6909] All done.
[12:24:08/6909] cache/simplepie: removed 0 files.
[12:24:08/6909] cache/images: removed 0 files.
[12:24:08/6909] cache/export: removed 0 files.
[12:24:08/6909] cache/upload: removed 0 files.
[12:24:08/6909] Removed 0 old lock files.
[12:24:08/6909] Removing old error log entries...
[12:24:08/6909] Feedbrowser updated, 63 feeds processed.
[12:24:08/6909] Purged 0 orphaned posts.
[12:24:08/6909] Removed 0 (feeds) 0 (cats) orphaned counter cache entries.

But I can see feeds, I see old ones (already read) but nothing is added. I am sure Slashdot for example must have had some new entries in the last 24hours,
my last article is 06/04/2016 10:59 BST.

I have even rebooted the server, so that everything picks up the "new" and correct time correctly. No avail.

Cheers

Thomas

Surely, forcing all articles to be refreshed should fix this disregarding the time?

Is there somewhere else the time stored what's interfering here?

I was hoping it recovers by itself... it didn't.
I restored from backup, the night before my server travelled to the future... it refuses still to update beyond 06/04/2016.

Not a problem with TTRSS then.
Thanks anyway.

Awesome. Now I fixed it.
It was the cache directory within ttrss.
But some entries were still missing. So I deleted the cache directory, restored the DB again and now it's fine.
It seems some feeds (like Slashdot) don't put out all their posts everyday, older ones get removed fairly quickly.

i'm not sure if it is worth adding checks for temporary files being in the future and maybe clearing everything on startup

e: i'll make a mental note to maybe add this if there's a particularly long wow outage or something and i'm bored
