Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS

mysql 5.5
php 5.5.9

Feed is:
http://rssfeeds.northjersey.com/northjerseydevils

Feed in myfeedsucks parser shows only NJ Devils articles
Same feed when viewed in a web browser only shows NJ Devils articles from northjersey.com
However, feed in tt-rss GUI shows sports articles in general from USA Today.

Last feed in tt-rss is from 8 minutes ago entitled Mike Tomlin: Antonio Brown 'selfish' for Steelers locker room video — USA TODAY with a link of: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nf ... /96669012/

myfeedsucks shows the following as the first item:
<item>
<feedburner:origLink>http://www.northjersey.com/story/sports/nhl/devils/2017/01/17/elias-still-testing-his-knee-he-contemplates-future/96687624/</feedburner:origLink>
<title>Elias still testing his knee as he contemplates future</title>
<link>http://rssfeeds.northjersey.com/~/259541498/0/northjerseydevils~Elias-still-testing-his-knee-as-he-contemplates-future/</link>

Let me know if you need any additional information. Not sure if this is an issue with the feed, but it started randomly occurring recently (last 2-3 days).

So your first hint, when using a feedburner competitor/rip off, should be that when you opened the feed in your browser, it rendered as a website instead of your browser picking it up and rendering it as an RSS feed. This tells you that shenanigans are afoot, which generally doesn't mesh well with TT-RSS, since TT-RSS doesn't put up with that. The good news is that you actually took steps to troubleshoot.

So I tried the URL you posted and could not duplicate the issue. Everything seemed to be Devils, or Devils related. At minimum, no football. Using Xubuntu, but otherwise same versions as you.

Also, they've got a little hidden RSS icon on that subscribe bit that loads an ACTUAL rss feed instead of whatever the hell they're pushing. That one loaded fewer articles, but still all seemed to be Devils related.

My advice, add that ?x=1 to the URL and see if it straightens up its shit.

I've subscribed to that feed and will let you know if it works. Thanks, and good catch on the little icon...with the ?x=1 it does seem to render as an RSS feed in my browser, so hopefully that will process properly in tt-rss as well.

No dice.

The feed directly in the browser with the &x=1 (does seem to be rendering as RSS, as Firefox is asking if I want to subscribe via Live Bookmarks) shows the three latest articles as:
1. Fire and Ice Notes: Devils get "quality" back into game
Wednesday, January 18, 2017 2:19 AM

2. Elias still testing his knee as he contemplates future
Wednesday, January 18, 2017 12:06 AM

3. Devils rally for impressive 4-3 win over Wild
Tuesday, January 17, 2017 11:59 PM

tt-rss shows:
1. Fire and Ice Notes: Devils get "quality" back into game — Staff Writer, @AGrossRecord 2:19
2. Steelers' Antonio Brown: Facebook Live locker room video 'was wrong of me' — USA TODAY Sports 0:28 [0]
3. HS player who targeted ref allowed back in sports — USATODAY Jan 17, 23:53 [0]
4. Golden State Warriors break ground on new Chase Center arena in bizarre scene — USA TODAY Sports Jan 17, 23:37

any chance this has something to do with af_unburn plugin? You mentioned feedburner before. I've been using that plugin for ages due to Slickdeals RSS feeds. Is it possible to exclude certain feeds from processing through unburn? I'd prefer not to disable it completely as I have a custom mysql script to remove duplicate articles from the Slickdeals RSS feeds, but it relies on the full resolution of the feed article.

whether the feed is displayed as html in the browser or not shouldn't really affect anything as long as it parses properly in tt-rss and/or myfeedsucks.

>However, feed in tt-rss GUI shows sports articles in general from USA Today.

are you actually subscribed to usa today or did those articles appear out of the blue? it could be some kind of (very unlikely) database mishap.

since this seems like a recurring thing you can try accessing the feed debugger (f D) to see if there wrong entries are in there.

>any chance this has something to do with af_unburn plugin?

don't think so. it can only resolve article link if it leads to feedburner.com, nothing else. i.e. a title or w/e is going to stay unmodified.

update, i guess the database or w/e theory is out, because your offending usa today article is literally right there in the feed:

Code: Select all

[12:38:17/29169] article processed
[12:38:17/29169] guid 2,http://usatodayhss.com/2017/texas-football-player-who-struck-ref-allowed-to-return-to-sports / SHA1:50439f1bae6f3c885f8719792b85456654e6329c
[12:38:17/29169] orig date: 1484715213
[12:38:17/29169] date 1484715213 [2017/01/18 04:53:33]
[12:38:17/29169] title HS player who targeted ref allowed back in sports
[12:38:17/29169] link http://usatodayhss.com/2017/texas-football-player-who-struck-ref-allowed-to-return-to-sports
[12:38:17/29169] author USATODAY

so i guess the feed is fucked then.

e: well, you can always use filters to mark everything you're not interested in as read.

yeah, seems as such. damn, not sure how i missed that, sorry. looks like it was all the way at the bottom of the parsed feed in myfeedsucks (not in chronological order). i'll bother the administrator on the site to see wtf is going on.
