Mobile webapp for TT RSS: ttrss-mobile

As a user of Tiny Tiny RSS, I was a bit frustrated with the mobile version on my old iPhone 3GS. As there are no news from the native app, here is a webapp that can replace the project one:

ttrss-mobile on Github (I can't put a link in my first post :? )

(fox edit): https://github.com/mboinet/ttrss-mobile

I've been developping this webapp in the past 30 days or so, it's not optimized yet and it's only been tested in Firefox, Chrome & my iPhone 3GS. Performance is not stellar as it's using jQuery Moble.

As the project is open-source, don't hesitate to use it, report issues on Github & make pull requests.

As of now, the webapp has no version.
It currently supports :
  • login using TT RSS json API (dont't forget to allow this for the user you're using)
  • see all special categories & categories with unread articles
  • it uses the adaptive view to list headlines
  • you can see all you're feeds in the current category
  • it tries to make articles responsive
  • you can star/unstar
  • you can mark as read/unread
  • iPhone webapp support with icons for iPhone & retina iPhones

Looking forward to updates, Thanks!

Added the direct link to your post. :)

Checked it out, looks great, the only thing that I found missing is mark as published.

Edit: added to http://tt-rss.org/redmine/projects/tt-r ... ileVersion

I was on a break, so this was not moving at all.

Back on track, I fixed the reported issue on github.
As requested, I'm adding publish support as soon as possible, there's just a button to add :)

Any other ideas?

I would appreciate two things:

  • the possibility to show feed entries of a category at once without going via each rss feed on it's own. Maybe via preferences or via a second button in the category list.
  • If you enter an article it would be nice to have next/back buttons on the article view. If you try to view every feed article you otherwise need to go into the article, go back to the feed list, go to the next article, go back... This is a bit unhandy.

I tried this on my own some time ago but I failed (I did not know anything about backbone.js).

Another thing: I try it with an N900 and there all other pages than the main page show "unknown" entries. I hope to find out what triggers this effect (which did not occur with my own thingie so it is no jquerymobile issue on it's own)

For the next/back buttons, do you think it should be at the top, the bottom or both of the article page? (I'm really annoyed too to go back to the list.)

For your first list item, I agree that it is necessary to have such a possibility. For example an "All" link that lists all the articles of the category.

Other than that, I need to make a better header for an article with starred/published/read information, feed link & title and a publication (edition) date. If someone has design ideas (I'm not good at that  ).

next/back buttons: It depends. I am not shure what the philosophy of the jqmobile framework is. Seems to be bottom on with a sticky toolbar.

I've just pushed prev/next support. Not really well tested

Hi,
I installed your webapp. It works great on the desktop in chrome. But on my HP Pre3 (webOS) after login I can very shortly (few ms) see the caption "categories" and the menu button and get immediatly redirected to the login page! Any Idea why or log to check why this happens?

Thanks

Marcel

Hi!

It will be hard for me to debug this without the device: almost everything's happening on it in javascript.

But what you're describing is normal. Maybe you're using SINGLE_USER_MODE?
See https://github.com/mboinet/ttrss-mobile/issues/4

Hi,

I am using multi user mode. And on Blackberry 10 it works as it should! Are there any logs I can access?

Hi all,

I've made a little patch to the default Tiny Tiny RSS index.php file in order to use ttrss-mobile webapp as default mobile reader.

You can download the patch here
ttrss-mobile-index.patch
The patch file
(471 Bytes) Downloaded 468 times

Move that to the same directory where index.php is, and apply with

Code: Select all

patch -p1 -i ttrss-mobile-index.patch index.php

My 2 cent.
Bye

what I'm missing is a collapse like view, like it's on google reader. the non mobile version of ttrss is providing that kind of view.

I'm working on that... check it out here: http://tt-rss.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1335

I'm adding in the collapsing view tonight, and should have a new version out in a few hours.
