Per-feed styling

Postby fox » 28 Mar 2013, 19:21

So I just had an idea: https://github.com/gothfox/Tiny-Tiny-RS ... a3e8d46398

Which allows stuff like this (using CSS attribute selectors):

Code: Select all

[feed-id="1234"] { color : red; }

I would love to have per feed styling - this way it would be easier to visualize from which feed the article is coming from, in particular I would style each heading background bar differently (e.g. Red for CNN, Blue for ESPN, etc.). When viewing my "News" folder I would always know where the article stems from.

Though i can find the $("headlines-frame").setAttribute("feed-id", id); line within tt-rss.js, I can't find the "feed-id" attribute anywhere in the feed. Right now (looking at the "fresh articles" feed), there only is the row id e.g. "RROW-6048", but it there's no information on the feed itself (e.g. 1234 for CNN).

Is this what you had in mind with per-feed styling or should I post a feature request? I think Google Reader even extracted the background from the favicon of the particular feed ;-)

I think you might want to read this forum a bit more before posting. Smiley face.

I will, no worries. You didn't answer my question though - what is the purpose of your Per-feed styling idea you had in this post? It is exactly what I would like to do.

1. There's no way to do per-feed starring in virtual feeds at the moment, but this is easily solved (by adding feed-id to RROW elements for example).

2. The idea is outlined above, do you want me to explain CSS selectors or something? I don't get it.

Btw this favicon thing is not a particularly terrible idea but GD can't load windows ico images of which there's a lot of favicons.

I'm already on it :-) I'll fork a working version for you, so you can check it out.

EDIT: Done. Sent you a pull request.
