Tried an opposite test. I Synced Calenture and waited 3 minutes and then compared the unread count to the TT-RSS web install. My unread count on Calenture was 30 while the unread count on TT-RSS was 40.

Very interesting, I tested sync very thoroughly and never saw those differences. I will try to find where the problem resides.

Did you mark those items individually or did you click on "Mark read"?
Can you click again on "Refresh"? 10 is not a great number of items and the cause could be simply than while you were waiting new items entered the tt-rss database.

Thanks again for the help in testing.

I use the J key normally to jump from article to article and when the article is the current one it is marked as read. I just read all of the unread articles in TT-RSS web instance and now Calenture shows 41 articles as unread even though I have synced multiple times.

I can't reproduce it here. Sync between four devices and tt-rss Web app works perfectly.

I'll try to add a sync log to help diagnose the problem.

Meanwhile I suggest to mark all items read on Calentura and sync again to start fresh.

I did that last night. This morning I read all my articles via the web interface meaning I had zero unread articles and then I went into Calenture and did a sync. I now show I have 44 unread articles.

Then the problem it's on the server side.

Those 44 articles are either new or not marked as read in the server. Calenture only downlads the articles marked as unread on the server (in fact doesn't know the existence of the rest of the articles) so I'm almost certain that if there is a problem it's on your tt-rss install.

I would love to hear the experiences of other users regarding sync so the client offers the best experience,

hm, that seems odd since if I use the Android client for TT-RSS it also shows the same number of articles that are on the web. They each stay in sync with each other in other words. Only Calenture is now out of sync. As I get and read more articles on the web and android client for TT-RSS and then mark them as read and I then go to Calenture the article count keeps increasing. It never goes down.

Pardon me, but how do I check that the fever plugin is working? I may be dumb, but I feel there's a lack of proper documentation. :)

I used the following URLs and it never worked:
http://myownserver/tt-rss/
http://myownserver/tt-rss/api/
http://myownserver/tt-rss/plugins/fever/

Putting the last one in a web browser, gives me: {"api_version":3,"auth":0} which makes me think it's the right one, however the app returns an error during log in (which didn't happen with the other urls).

External API is working, as I'm testing TT-RSS both through web interface, ttrss-mobile and the News+ android app. :)

The official tt-rss client uses tt-rss api which in in turn returns the number of articles unread on server. That way they always stay in sync.
Calenture, in turn, uses fever API which works pretty differently and the client has to calculate unread items by itself.

That's interesting and increases my suspicion that something doesn't works as intended on the server side, probably with fever API plugin. Are you using this version of the plugin?: https://github.com/dasmurphy/tinytinyrss-fever-plugin . As far as i know is the last available an the one that I'm using.

If you are using that version could you create a test user in your installation so I can test it? I'm egaer to make it work and and I'm out of ideas.

This -> http://myownserver/tt-rss/plugins/fever/

Rmember that you need to put you username in the email field and that you need to create a password in "Fever Emulation" pane in tt-rss preferences.

Maybe I should create serious documentation... I'm so busy at the moemnt but i keep it in mind for sure

Yes, I am using that plugin.

PM me and I will set up an account for you so you can test it.

Man, I feel dumb. Everything was written in the "Fever emulation" tab. Maybe the only documentation you need is "Remember to enable the Fever plugins and check its tab in the preferences." :)
