After cloning from github the resulting directory name was "article_toolbar_small.git" and not "article_toolbar_small". I believe that was the problem since most paths are hardcoded in the plugin (like css, images). Once I renamed the directory to "article_toolbar_small" the plugin did show up in preferences and everything works great now. Thanks for this cool plugin!

But what should toggle expanded view do? After a click on it, there is a loading screen and then nothing has changed. I tried IE10 and FF20. The four other buttons are working normal...

edit: I use TT-RSS 1.7.8 and normal size Toolbar

When you have combined feed display enabled in preferences, Toggle Expanded Will collapse and show only the headlines.
Click it again and it will show all of the article, not just the headlines.

All other plugins (close_button, facebook, googleplus, mail, videoframes) showed up normally in preferences. Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

I noticed that you cloned article_toolbar.
Usually better to grab the zip file...
Please make sure that the folder in plugins is named "article_toolbar"

This feature will work with all versions 1.7.6 and above.

I'm thinking that you have the folder named wrong.

idoxlr8: thanks for such a handy plugin.

I am using the grauerSkin theme which I thought conflicted with the new icons. So I took the liberty to modify the css and the images used. I'm not saying it is for everyone and not suggesting that you change the default. I just thought I would share my hack for those that might be interested.

Nice... very nice
Hack away...
If anybody wants to do some cool icons i'm all for it. I'm a coder not a graphics artist...
It took me all of 15 minutes to make the icons...
The icons are png format with transparent background...
Large are 32x32px and small are 16x16px

post them here and maybe we can get something really cool...
I would like to see some icons that fit in with custom themes from the themes folder...

On a different note...
Any old greader users remember how you could click on the next article and bring it to the top and mark all before it as read?
I do... and I have a hack for it... :roll:

I use the larger version with the same grauerSkin theme and actually like the muted icon colors. I got this plugin so I could easily use tt-rss on my iPad, and they work great. I am looking maybe to do some that are the same color as the background but more contrast to the detail so they blend in. Guess I need to find an icon editor.

I really don't like posting a hack to the original code, I prefer to get things done by writing a plugin...
With that said, I will post this hack in hopes that someone can help get it into a plugin that works.
I haven't been able to get it right so far.

Find this in index.php:

Code: Select all

      <div id="headlines-frame" dojoType="dijit.layout.ContentPane"
            onscroll="headlines_scroll_handler(this)" region="center">
         <div id="headlinesInnerContainer">
            <div class="whiteBox"><?php echo __('Loading, please wait...') ?></div>
         </div>
      </div>

and change it to:

Code: Select all

      <div id="headlines-frame" dojoType="dijit.layout.ContentPane"
            onscroll="headlines_scroll_handler(this)" region="center" onclick="cdmScrollToArticleId(getActiveArticleId(),true)">
         <div id="headlinesInnerContainer">
            <div class="whiteBox"><?php echo __('Loading, please wait...') ?></div>
         </div>
      </div>

With all due respect to Fox, I sure could use some help getting this to work in a plugin, it makes it much easier to update...

Edit:
In my plugin I'm using HOOK_RENDER_ARTICLE_CDM
It works but when in a plugin I have to click the <div> twice to get a response and move the article to the top.
Here is what I have, based on an example plugin:

Code: Select all

<?php
class article extends Plugin {

   private $link;
   private $host;

   function about() {
      return array(1.0,
         "Example plugin for HOOK_RENDER_ARTICLE",
         "fox",
         false);
   }

   function init($host) {
      $this->link = $host->get_link();
      $this->host = $host;

      $host->add_hook($host::HOOK_RENDER_ARTICLE_CDM, $this);
   }

   //function get_prefs_js() {
   //   return file_get_contents(dirname(__FILE__) . "/init.js");
   //}

   function HOOK_RENDER_ARTICLE_CDM($article) {
         $article["content"] = "<div class='click_wrapper' onscroll='headlines_scroll_handler(this)' region='center' onclick='cdmScrollToArticleId(getActiveArticleId(),true)'>" .$article["content"]. "</div>";

      return $article;
   }
}
?>

This should probably be forked to a different thread so first I'm going to say I really like the Next/Prev toolbar.

That said, idoxlr8's tweaks to the "feel/function" of clicking on an item and having the focus push everything up and mark everything previous read (like GReader did) saves keystrokes and time and works perfectly so I'd love for it to be plugin-ized so it doesn't get overwritten during the next core update.

Humongous thanks @fox for building this fantastic thing and everyone else making it even better -- THANK YOU ..!

I am also using grauerskin, and would love to use your icons if you feel like making them available. They look great.

Thanks for the comment. You can download the modified version from github: https://github.com/ebell451/tt-rss_plug ... bar_grauer

Thanks!

This is weird but when I dropped your folder into plugins (via ftp), it doesn't show up in my tt-rrss plugins list (yes, I did a forced refresh of Chrome mac). And when I added your folder without first disabling the regular next-prev toolbar my plugin list is completely blank. Any idea why?
