Grone Theme - Yet another Google Reader based theme

Postby Cas » 31 May 2013, 04:01

There are several Google Reader based themes already but I was looking for specific options based around the minimal list view.

This is great, thanks!
Really love the single-line article preview. That was exactly what was 'missing' to make things feel right again. :D

Would you happen to know why the "Article Headline Toggle" plugin seems to break when using your theme?

Yes it was unfortunate side effect that the click area for the plugin shrank. The problem is due to the span element that contains the title cannot fill the empty space, thus no extra clickable area as before.

I have pushed some small changes, missed items and removed hiding the unread count so you can optionally use my hide_unread_count plugin: https://github.com/cas--/tt-rss-plugin- ... read_count

I also fixed the "Article Headline Toggle" plugin issue mentioned by aqtrans in that thread.

It would be perfect, if the Feed-Title and/or icon changes to the left side of the headline.

Feed title is a bit tricky due to non-fixed width and absolute positioning of the headline, however I realized it was possible to move the feed icon to the left without any trouble, new code is on github.

I have found that I could control the margin between the star and the headline with no icon showing using attribute selector for `is-cat` but the layout shifts around when switching between category and feed which is not pleasant.

I have updated for the tt-rss 1.8 release (1.7 css is now in separate git branch) and added a few more small changes. I have put a new screenshot in first post.

The last two rss feeds are hidden with this theme. No matter how much I use the mouse wheel to scroll down, they don't come up. Only way to see them is use the down arrow key.

I have the same problem as the last two users above me.
Also, I see the feed icon at the end of the line. From the above discussion I thought it had been moved at the beginning of the line. I'm puzzled.

For those of you that were having issues with hidden feeds/categories: you can fix this with a quick edit to grone.css.

Find the definition for

Code: Select all

feeds-holder
and add

Code: Select all

overflow: scroll;

The new definition should look like:

Code: Select all

#feeds-holder{
    border-right: 0;
    box-shadow: 0px 0px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.1) inset;
    background: none;
    overflow: scroll;
}

Worked nicely but added a horizontal scroll for me. Try using this instead:

Code: Select all

    overflow-y: auto;
    overflow-x: hidden;

The new definition should look like:

Code: Select all

#feeds-holder{
    border-right: 0;
    box-shadow: 0px 0px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.1) inset;
    background: none;
    overflow-y: auto;
    overflow-x: hidden;
}

I think my latest tt-rss upgrade to 1.12 broke this theme. The font family and size of the posts and headlines seem to revert to the default, which hurts my eyes x) I tried customizing it, but only seemed to be able to get the size down. The feed list font seems OK. Any help? Thanks for this great compact theme.

EDIT:
I was able to fix it after all:

Code: Select all

div.cdm.expandable div.cdmHeader a.title {
    font-size: 13px;
    font-family: "Arial", sans-serif;
}

div.cdm.expandable.active div.cdmHeader a.title {
    font-size: 13px;
    font-weight: normal;
    color: gray;
    font-family : "Arial", sans-serif;
}

div.cdmContentInner span{
    font-size: 13px;
    font-family: "Arial", sans-serif;
}

#main-toolbar > *,
#main-toolbar table *,
#main-toolbar .actionChooser * {
   font-family: "Arial", sans-serif;
}

#feeds-holder{
    overflow-y: auto;
    overflow-x: hidden;
}

Put these in the Customize box in the settings, and everything should look sane again!

A bit cumbersome having to redefine the font so many times, maybe someone should really fix this in the default theme...
