If <software> stops working by just updating the underlying <other software>, I feel like reporting this issue. If this is not appreciated here, sorry for actually asking.

Only if <extra software> is distributed by Microsoft's website.

https://github.com/hrk/tt-rss-newsplus- ... s/init.php

It supports api_version() and returns 2. It works with 1.9 here. Is it "installed" in a directory named "api_newsplus"?

If it works with 1.9 it should work with 1.10. I think.

Do you seriously not understand the concept of third party addons? You might want to check the red text on plugins wiki page.

ya know, I notice that you haven't given any details about what you've done... are you trying to enable that plugin by clicking on it? it doesn't work that way.

Nope, we have already established that he added it to config.php.

e: Post your PLUGINS directive from config.php, check if class name and plugin directory matches, etc.

[In an unrelated note: why do system plugins require to be enabled only through config.php? Pls, no "what part of system isn't clear to you?", I'm wondering what features could be enabled harmfully/unwillingly, since the files must already be in the plugins directory of the server]

Because they should be able to operate before user logon is established (one obvious example being authentication system) or function independently of the user session for other reasons (for example if they mask tt-rss system methods). If they don't need any of that, there's no case for them being system and they should be enabled normally per-user.

The limitation to add API methods for system plugins only was I think because it makes things easier to debug in case of potential problems (e.g. API methods somehow missing between users). This could be loosened in the future, I suppose.

Yep.

Code: Select all

define('PLUGINS', 'auth_remote, auth_internal, note, updater','api_newsplus');

it's probably just me and my years of experience with lying, er, I mean, mistaken, customers, that makes me wonder if he added it correctly... and, it looks like he might not have.

I like how you saw the rest of it and decided to add your own plugin in a completely different way for some reason.

if there's a next time, don't just say "I upgraded and it broke" or "I added it to system plugins"

ffs people, everybody isn't a mind reader. say WHAT you upgraded from, what you upgraded to, and not only what you did, but post specific examples, relevent config files bits, logs, etc.
