If you did not find the FAQ, no matter the reason why, you could use the fact, that makes open source great. Just grep for the error message and you get the source of the error.

and particularly :I have used the update daemon before, but switched away from it. However, the UI keeps nagging me about the daemon not running.
Seems like an awful lot of work for an RRS reader. :/
