Fatal error: Out of memory (LanguageDetect.php)

Hi all,

I was hoping to use TTRSS in my project though I've run into an issue.

My CRON as "update --feeds" seeing I'm on a shared host system. It's failing 95% of the times with the error below. It's a normal install from the site here, I have about 152 feeds and I wanted to grow it to around 500+. It's hosted by Siteground (who I contacted and they said "I am afraid that we will not be able to increase the memory_limit on our shared servers as this can be performed only globally on the server and it is not possible to be increased per user basis.")

[10:11:07/15173] => 2015-10-26 09:40:24, 109 1
[10:11:07/15173] 0.1872 (sec)
[10:11:07/15173] Base feed: [10:11:07/15173] => 2015-10-26 09:40:24, 110 1

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 314572800) (tried to allocate 80 bytes) in /home/force9/public_html/tt-rss/plugins/af_lang_detect/languagedetect/LanguageDetect.php on line 252

Is there anything I can do on my side to improve or run updates in batches or that it clears the memory before continuing or similar? No massive expert on things, so any and all feedback appreciated as I need to decide what to do with this project of mine.

Yeah. That's the problem. You can get a 128 MB OpenVZ VPS for about $15-$20/year from a quality provider... Or a 512 MB OpenVZ VPS for for about $5/month. Seems cheaper than what Siteground is offering at a first glance and you'll have significantly more resources and better performance.

Given that you want to handle 500+ feeds, realistically you're going to need 512 MB - 1 GB on a VPS. Shared hosting is not going to be able to handle this.

Fatal error: Out of memory...

Maybe disable the af_lang_detect plugin. In fact, disable every plugin you do not absolutely need.

Thanks for the tips JustAMacUser, I'm using Siteground for more than just TTRSSS, so can't really compare. I guess I'll need to look into something like OpenVZ VPS even if that sounds scary for someone with almost zero Linux experience to get running and to maintain.
