Spanish translation

Postby davidm » 04 Aug 2012, 13:13

I'd like to finish the Spanish translation and improve a little what's already translated. I've requested the creation of a Spanish team in Transifex. Should I wait for it to be created? Or can I download the .pot file and then post the updated file in this thread. What is the best way?

Thanks!

Thanks, I've created the Spanish team. Don't forget to post here when you finished the translation, transifex doesn't email me on translation file changes.

I have started translating the untranslated parts.

What about improving the parts that are already translated? Is there any problem with that? I don't want to simply obliterate someone else's efforts, but some parts really have room for improvement.

I can't speak for any of the contributors, but my opinion is as long as it's an improvement it's okay. You can of course try contacting the previous author if he mentioned his email in translation header.

I've advanced quite a lot. Is there a way to test the translation in my ttrss instance?

Copy the .po file to the relevant directory and run update-translations.sh.

I think the translation is ready for showtime!

I have been testing it for a few days, improved some things from my initial attempt, and now I think it's okay enough.

The biggest issue was the word "Label". Before me it wasn't translated in most cases, except at one point, where they used the same Spanish word that they had used for "Tag". So I had to change it, which was hard, because there is not an obvious synonym. I considered words which are better translated as "Sign", "Keyword" and so on. Finally I settled for marcador, which is the word that Firefox uses for "Bookmark" in Spanish.

Hope I have been of help.

One question: does OTP stand for One Time Passwords?

Thanks. Since the fix to update-translations.sh, almost everything is translatable now. Only a few weird loose threads remain untranslatable:

* "Choose file" buttons and "(none)" near them.
* When you are in preferences, the window title.
* Now this one is really strange. The filter actions are translated, and they appear translated everywhere but one place: in the Filter tree, the filter actions near folder icons are not translated.
* When you select articles by tags: "Any" and "All tags"

That's pretty much all I found.

Thanks! All of it should be fixed now except for the file chooser buttons which are browser controls, so I can't do anything about those.

Looks like an include order issue, I think I fixed this in 23419d1.
