Email address book

In GR I've used a lot sharing articles via e-mail. It was integrated with my gmail address book. Perhaps implementing a simple e-mail addressbook in tiny-rss is a good idea? Nothing fancy - just an auto-populating list of e-mails that I used for sharing articles?

Personally I think that mail plugin in general should be replaced with a mailto: link so your system email client would handle it.

Edit: although admittedly that probably won't solve the list of emails problem.

A mailto link would be a good idea. It seems the following is possible:

<a href="mailto: ?subject=your subject&body=your body">Send mail</a>

Source: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1769 ... -recipient

I like the current mail system. It's very similar to GR. Just the addressbook is missing.
Mailto is OK, but I rarely use desktop email apps anymore. And when I need to use tt-rss from another computer I don't want or have rights to install and configure email client.

to be fair, mailto: can invoke gmail or whatever.

I didn't know that, thanks.

Just for my understanding: You want to let the old email mechanism die? That is no good idea: There are situations where I do not have any mailer on the system I use tt-rss (and the tt-rss-thingie is much faster than starting up the mailer by mailto: ) . With the old mechanism I can send posts with the new one (mailto: ) I shoot myself into the foot. No, I do not want Google Reader! That's the point I use tt-rss for years now!

Please remote the "deprecated" and let the old mail plugin live together with the mailto one.

(Typo: Please remove the "deprecated"). For those who do not think that a non working email-reader is possible here some examples: Internet cafes, business accounts with discriminating email regulations, just lent an account of a friend's laptop and you do not want to write mails in her name...

Well, on my system mailto: invokes gmail. Which I think is a chrome extension.

I suppose fair point about internet cafes and whatnot, it's not hard to keep both plugins around, so I'll un-deprecate it then.

Ah, thanks. That plugin mechanism was one of the best features in the last months, fox! And I hope that you do not have additional support work with problems on the old plugin :?

I am very sorry just another point for this: now I have both plugins activated (ahem) because both have their use cases. But now - guess what? - I cannot differ the envelopes. For the icon designers: What about an envelope with an arrow pointing outside the envelope for mailto: (I am leaving tt-rss for writing an email in your favorite mailer)?

Yeah I thought about that, but figured nobody is going to have to mail plugins loaded. I'll tweak the icon tomorrow.
