Open all Unread in Feed

Postby carlf » 13 May 2016, 17:44

Hi. New user here, migrating over from the Newsfox plugin for Firefox. TT-RSS looks like it's going to work great for me. I do miss one feature from Newsfox that I can almost do: right-click on a newsfeed and open all unread articles from it in the browser, without leaving the newsgroup listing.

That is, I would like to go to, say, the New Urban Legends feed from snopes.com, right-click on the listing in the left pane and choose "Open unread". All the unread articles from that feed then open in separate tabs in the default browser (obviously Firefox for the Newsfox plugin), and the focus remains on the newsfeed listing so I can open even more tabs. My favored routine is to pick the stuff to read all in one batch, then read all of it, rather than read one article, pick another, read that, and pick another.

Clearly if you wanted to make things perfect for me, personally, this should work in the mouse-and-keyboard interface, the touch interface for mobile web, and in the Android app (which I'll buy within the next few days if the trial continues to work as well as it seems to).

I did look through this forum back to 2013 without seeing a request for this particular feature.

Thanks for creating and open-sourcing Tiny Tiny RSS, and for at least considering user requests like this one.

Carl

OP,

Why not try enabling the readability plugin that's bundle with TT-RSS and then you can just read everything in a single window?

JustAMacUser ... does that do what I'm interested in? Show all the unread messages from multiple feeds, in separate tabs, in a browser, even when working from the Android app?

maybe you should continue using "newsfox plugin for firefox" because i'm definitely not implementing this feature which i, frankly, consider quite idiotic

I was making the assumption that you had to open new tabs to view the articles in their entirety. If that is the case, the Readability plugin will attempt to extract that information for articles when updating each feed (for which you have it enabled). In doing so you could then just read the articles in one tab (the TT-RSS one).

e: Also, it goes without saying that I should not make assumptions.

About a decade ago this guy in Russia decided to make an RSS web app so that 10 years later one person could enjoy the fruit of first's labor.

I'm sure you'll cater to his whims, yes? ;)
