Error in update.php & update_daemon2.php CRON

Postby roman_rutov » 02 Jul 2013, 10:55

Hi. I trying to configure automatic update with update.php.

update.php returns an error: "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM in /home/a/admin25/reader.adminsk.ru/public_html/update.php on line 327".

"T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM" - is a "::" symbols on line 327:
Image

When i delete one of ":", i see another error message: "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ':' in /home/a/admin25/reader.adminsk.ru/public_html/update.php on line 327"

PHP version on my hosting i can change manually from 4.4 to 5.4, but update is not working with any version i select.

Please help.

well, DUH.

search before posting, else you'll be roasted. of course, since most of the hits point back to this thread, which you obviously didn't read through thoroughly... oooh boy.

Search returns only 4 results.

So, i put the strings
php_value magic_quotes_gpc Off
php_value magic_quotes_runtime Off
php_value magic_quotes_sybase Off
..in .htaccess file. it did not help.

I change a PHP version to 5.3 in hosting options - it did not help.

Or... "Too bad. Contact your hosting support. Running tt-rss on shared hosting of any kind is NOT SUPPORTED. Do not file bugs about shared hosting restrictions, they will be closed."???

3 seconds you could use to actually read through this whole page of the thread. It has much more tips then just the magic quotes thing, you know.

Also, I am pretty sure you edited the wrong config file even for that.

What then, is it possible to wait for help from the speaking anus "of Eternity"?

1. My PHP version is 5.3.22 (i check this, when load to root directory of tt-RSS this file: "<?php echo phpversion() ?>")
2. I put the strings "php_value ... Off" in the .htaccess file in the same directory, as for the update.php file.

What else, smart guy?

Can someone please explain to me why this is met with so much surprise?

I've bit my tongue through every post like this but I'm finally sick and tired of this bullshit. "NOT SUPPORTED" doesn't mean YOU can't try to make it work. It means fox ISN'T going to try to make it work. I honestly don't mind when people ask questions about how to get the software working on their shared host. Lots of people seem to run it in this configuration and folks can share their experiences and help each other as a community. But stop bitching at fox for not bending over backwards to make something he doesn't want to help you with work. You're not a special little snowflake.

If you want to run the damned software then run it on the kind of platform it's written for -- which is not shared hosting.

Since this kind of crap seems to have no end, one suggestion I would give to fox (which he is free to ignore) is to add a section on the forums for people running shared hosting so they seek each other out and provide support to each other and leave him and the rest of us out of it.

Same Problem here.

My Problem with my NAS is, that the php-binary is older.

php -v show PHP 5.2.17

and phpversion() show 5.3.14

that's my problem.

Basically, same answer. Read this thread. Apply all suggested solutions. Don't be that guy.

you've got the same problem as idiot boy up there, but, at least, you recognize it, and he's too stupid to comprehend it.

for fuck sake, the answer is right here in this thread
I did have the same problem for a while. Regardless of what your hoster says about PHP version, please make sure the version referenced in your cronjob is actually 5.*. As in, /usr/bin/php, or whatever you put into your cronjob, actually returns "PHP 5.3.*" when you run a command "/usr/bin/php -v"

you two are inadequate idiots. what the point of writing a web product that may NOT work with shared hosting? For local use i have FeedDemon. Maybe instead went into hysterics, you should just take your hands out of your asses and fix this error? or, eventually, write in LARGE LETTERS on the homepage and download page of the product, that they can NOT normally use with shared hosting. I killed two fucking days to your crappy script. if I had been warned once - I would have migrated to the feedly.

It does work with shared hosting though, tovarisch, it's just not supported. Because you have to not be a blithering idiot to make it work sometimes and supporting blithering idiots who can't even read (like you) is not something we are eager to do.

That's two days humanity didn't have to deal with your stupid face, in other words, two days well spent. I feel good about it.
