Google Reader "Keep unread" option

Postby durera » 27 Jun 2013, 17:12

One of my favourite features of Google Reader was the "Keep Unread" checkbox which would lock the article as unread, preventing any automated change in the state of the article regardless of whether i clicked on it, scrolled past it etc.

In tt-rss there is no equivalent as far as I can tell, even if I manually mark an article as unread after it's been automatically marked as read, as soon as I scroll down to the next article tt-rss automatically marks the previous one as read. I want this "keep unread" button in tt-rss, and before I try to implement this myself I figured I'd check if anyone else has already done something like this, or maybe it's due to an upcoming release perhaps?

Search turns up plenty of results for "mark as read/unread", but nothing that I can see delivers the functionality of "keep unread"? ie. please don't point me at https://github.com/Elv1zz/ttrss_plugin-markasread .. this is a nice plugin that I already use, but it's not what I'm asking about :)

Cheers,

-D

"No it doesn't" ?

Are you saying yes, there's a "google reader clone" edition coming, but no it doesn't have this "keep unread" feature in it?

This feature will be available in a premium edition of project google reader clone AKA Project Niemen. The pricing policy is subject to change but it will probably be something around the $10 mark.

I just spent, like, 10 minutes trying to decide what I should reply with:

  • A helpful explanation that fox has never implemented a feature "because Google Reader"
  • A sarcastic explanation that fox has never implemented a feature "because Google Reader"
  • A paragraph lamenting that people no longer "lurk before posting"
  • A picture of a bear

You're getting this instead.

what he's saying is that on july 1st, *your* ttrss will become a complete google reader clone.

and stop working completely.

until then, try starring things you want to read later.

also, 'keep unread' on google reader wasn't as good as you seem to think, because the next time you saw that article, you'd have to mark 'keep unread' again, or it'd disappear. stars in ttrss work better.
