Error on clean install to shared host (SiteGround)

I realize shared hosting is not supported, but was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

I was able to download and install tt-rss to a raspberrian web server. The speed a was a bit slow, however, so I repeated the process using a shared host (Siteground). I unzipped the installation files, copied and altered config.php and setup a database. On first load, however, I get:

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '\' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/MYACCOUNT/public_html/ttrss/index.php on line 98
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ',' or ';' in /home/MYACCOUNT/public_html/ttrss/index.php on line 98

I checked line 98 of index.php, which is:
echo JShrink\Minifier::minify($p->get_js());

within a loop to initialize a set of plugins. I've got to admit, though, that I don't really understand the syntax for PHP classes. Nor can I fathom why this would parse just fine on a local machine but not on a shared host.

Have I done something wrong? Any ideas?

Namespaces = php 5.3. Read the requirements before installing stuff.

Oh - didn't notice the specific version number for php. Thanks.

For others looking to getting this running via Siteground, in CPanel there is an option to set the version for Php. You can do this globally for your site or directory-by-directory. The current default is still 5.3.22 for siteground, but switching the tt-rss directory to 5.4 solves this problem. shared host do have their own limitation.

raspi processor is consider on the low-end side..

both are not recommended for processing mid to heavy stuffs.

Is this a joke? I honestly cannot tell.

On the upside I have been in contact with Bluehost to try and resolve my cron job issue and I suggested they support TTRSS with a simple script install. Earlier today they said they will be adding it very soon for all their customers.

One other tip for Siteground users (possibly others on hosted installs)--I found that the update script was not picking up parameters passed from the command line (not sure if this is a security setting in Siteground or what). I edited the script to remove the check if --feeds is passed (in which case the script acts like this is always passed). Seems to be working fine now.
